We’re happy to welcome Philippe LeJeune back after more than a two-year absence. The popular boogie-woogie, jazz, and blues pianist from Toulouse, France, has performed many times at AA5 over the years. The young pianist attended a 1968 concert by master boogie-woogie and blues pianist Memphis Slim, and immediately put an end to his classical efforts and began teaching himself the blues, scouring local record shops for recordings by boogie-woogie greats. In 1980 he cut an album titled “Dialog in Boogie” as a piano duo with Slim, who had been a Parisian citizen since 1962. Since then, he has toured the U. S. regularly, performing at major music festivals, and released six more CDs, including his most recent, “Groovin’ Blues”, which was released last year.
