Thank you so much for listening to WDVX. Your commitment to supporting the unique programming of WDVX shows that you're adventurous in your music and open to new possibilities.
WDVX prides itself on presenting fresh music and classic recordings that can't be heard anywhere else- music with heart and soul. Real music. That's what sets WDVX apart from other stations. We care about the music we play as much as we care about the people listening.
I hope you will take a minute to reflect on what WDVX has meant to you and ask that you consider making a gift to WDVX during our Spring Fund Drive.
Consider how often you listen to WDVX. Listening to the WDVX Blue Plate Special each day adds up to more than 250 hours of your time this year. Listening every day at work means that WDVX is on more than 2,000 hours each year.
Consider why you choose WDVX. WDVX plays a unique blend of roots music- Americana, Bluegrass, Classic Country, Alternative Country, Gospel, Folk and more- from local, regional and national artists. WDVX is a listener-supported community radio. Listener support is our number one source of funding. Donations of any size are welcome and appreciated. We hope you make plans to participate in our annual Spring Fundraiser with your tax deductible donation. We have nice new thank you gifts that are available to our listeners.
ABOUT THE GIFTS:
Friends of WDVX, WDVX Ambassadors and the WDVX Leadership Circle- These are all special giving levels. They will receive recognition as a charter member of the group and will be given special rewards throughout the year.
Donors can go online and use the online donation page to give.
EMPLOYER MATCHING:
Some companies will match donations made to nonprofit organizations by their employees. You can check with you human resources director to see if your company matches your gift to WDVX. If they do, the HR director will give you a form to fill out and mail in to WDVX with your pledge form. We'll take care of the rest. If you are not sure, then you can include your employer name on the pledge form and we'll check on it for you.
If you are a federal employee, WDVX is now a participating organization in the Smoky Mountain Region Combined Federal Campaign. You can give us a call and we'll give you the five-digit code you need to designate WDVX to receive your contribution.
YOUR TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS ARE USED TO:
-Produce and promote live events that showcase our heritage while spotlighting local, regional and national talent- events like the WDVX BLUE PLATE SPECIAL.
-Sponsor local events that bring great music to the region, such as Stringtime in the Smokies, Americana Classic Concert Series at the Shed, Louie Bluie Festival.
-Preserve the Appalachian heritage and culture by introducing hundreds of thousands of people to unique programming like the Bluegrass Special, Tennessee Country Classics and Johnny Mack's Friday Night Blues Attack.
-Maintain and purchase equipment and services that allow us to reach a wider audience throughout East Tennessee and the world through the web.
-Provide great music- commercial free- every day.
-Pay salaries of on-air personalities and staff of 5 full-time and 2 part-timers.
-pay licensing fees to the FCC and other entities so we can legally keep the music playing.
OUR MISSION
WDVX is a listener-supported community radio station that promotes, preserves and plays an eclectic mix of un-presented and underrepresented music. We reach a diverse international audience to raise awareness of our Southern Appalachian region and its rich musical heritage. WDVX entertains, educates, engages, informs and energizes its growing and responsive audience by offering quality, commercial-free regionally focused musical, cultural and educational programming. WDVX promotes regional musicians, writers, storytellers and other artists by providing opportunities to perform live and on the air, by regularly broadcasting a local performance calendar and by sponsoring and co-sponsoring community music and arts events.
VISION
Because regional music is crucial to the spirit of East Tennessee, WDVX improves the vitality of the area by promoting that music. As a result, East Tennesseans will be more aware of and more deeply connected to their musical roots and to the heritage of the Southern Appalachians and the Cumberland Mountains. They will feel the connections between our region's music and that of the world. Beyond East Tennessee, listeners will come to appreciate the richness of our region through music.

-WDVX Blue Plate Special awarded the Knoxville Tourism Alliance's Museum/Attraction of the Year in 2006
-Featured in numerous media outlets: Southern Living magazine, Boston Globe, USA Today, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Oxford American, No Depression, ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, PBS, ptelevision.org, WBIR-TV, WVLT-TV, Metro Pulse, Knoxville News Sentinel and Knoxville Voice.
