Thanks for listening to my programming on WDVX! On Sunday afternoons, I mix bluegrass, old-time, honky tonk, classic country, folk, and other musical odds and ends on the Clinch River Breakdown.

On Tuesday evenings, Alex Leach and I stick to bluegrass on the Bluegrass Special.

East Tennessee has been my home for more than 25 years, but I am originally from Springfield, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. When I was growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, the D.C. area was brimming with bluegrass music. I was fortunate to see many of the first generation masters and the great D.C. area bands such as the Seldom Scene and Country Gentlemen many times. Through the years, I have continued listening and learning about many types of music with enthusiasm. I like to mix well-known and lesser-known material on my programs, including selections from hard-to-find LPs.

I am a geologist and my “day job” is with an engineering firm in Knoxville. Send me an e-mail if you’d like to request a song or comment on the music

  2. Charlie…thanks for handin’ the phone to Ted so we could talk about Carroll Best. I try to listen every Sunday as I work at my Mac here in Snellville, Georgia. Always good stuff. Tasty and informative. When you get a chance, check out…it’s kinda like the e-magazine equivalent of your show…

  3. Matthew Adams says:

Charlie, your show is by far the best part of Sunday, and the best way to start of a new week.

    Keep up the awesome work!
