BLUE PLATE SPECIAL – ARTIST SUBMISSIONS

What you need to know before submitting…(you must read this before you will be considered for booking)

The Blue Plate Special (BPS) is a FREE show. Performers may sell merchandise (you keep 100%), promote upcoming performances, promote a CD and website etc.; however, there is no performance fee. The promotional benefit and opportunity to sell merchandise is mutually beneficial for you and WDVX. The BPS is a LIVE broadcast, in front of a LIVE audience. It is not a “taped” only performance.

THE BLUE PLATE SPECIAL IS PRIMARILY AN ACOUSTIC VENUE!

Please be aware that the BPS stage is small, the listening room in the visitor center is small, and the BPS PA system is, you guessed it, small. Electric bands are STRONGLY encouraged to strip down their setup to accommodate an “unplugged” performance (drummers, PLEASE consider rods or brushes instead of sticks). We enjoy all types of music and bands here, but we really do have to keep an eye on our volume…otherwise people leave, and that’s just bad for everybody.

Although we are proud to showcase new talent, we ask that you have some experience before submitting. We encourage new acts to get experience through open-mic nights and jams, as well as actual performance experience BEFORE requesting to book onto the show. WORLDWIDE radio is not a good “first gig.” Get some experience…then apply. Try to book your BPS appearance around a performance in/around Knoxville. The BPS is a tool to use to promote an upcoming performance or new CD. YOU MUST PROVIDE WDVX WITH DEMO MATERIAL. WE NEED TO KNOW THAT YOU FIT OUR PROGRAMMING CRITERIA… Youtube, Reverbnation, Facebook, whatever, but make it EASY for us to preview your music.

When submitting to the BPS please send specific dates that work, keeping in mind we often are booking months ahead at a time. We book 48 acts a month so if you are told a date is available it doesn’t mean we are holding it for you.  Until you receive a message that your date is CONFIRMED, it is available to the first taker. WDVX RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DECLINE ARTIST REQUESTS FOR ANY REASON, AT ANY TIME.

We’ve had as few people as 10 in attendance, and we’ve had as many as 190-200 (pretty much standing room only). Promoting your performance is YOUR responsibility. We’ll do our part, but help us out by linking to the WDVX Blue Plate Special on your Facebook page (while you’re at it, give us a “like” in FB). Be sure to mention that your performance will be webcast around the world at wdvx.com, and tag WDVX whenever you can on Facebook.

What you need to know about the show…

The WDVX Blue Plate Special is a free, daily concert series from 12 noon to 1 p.m. that features live performances from local, national, and international artists.
