was born and raised in Oak Ridge, TN. My hobbies include playing golf with Greg Hodge and many of my bluegrass buddies at Ruggles Ferry Golf Course…managing Phil Leadbetter’s wrestling career…and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, and anyone who beats Kyle Busch. I also like songwriting and photography. I actually have a co-write credit on one of Lou Reid and Carolina’s songs (It’s Hard to Stumble When You’re Down On Your Knees) thanks to Shannon Slaughter.
I enjoy spreading the word about the fine musicians that call East Tennessee home.
I hold a BS degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where I was a member of the football team. I also have a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from Tusculum College.
I was hooked on bluegrass at an early age thanks to my father’s cousin, Luther Warf, of Ewing, VA. In my teenage years, I was lucky enough to get to see the “Knoxville Grass” on a regular basis at Buddy’s Bar-B-Q. Paul Brewster and the late Glenn Laney were two of my favorite singers then and continue to be so to this day.
My wife, Jackie, and I have an amazing son named Dane who turned three in October 2011. He is my biggest fan!
Bluegrass music has allowed me to meet some of the nicest people in the world. I truly enjoy hosting A Cumberland Sunday Morning because I believe it fulfills a need for so many of the listeners. Thanks for supporting WDVX and God Bless.
