Dedicated to playing good music regardless of the genre and providing a good time regardless of the circumstances, All Over the Road was founded by Knoxville News Sentinel writer Mike Flannagan in the early years of WDVX. When Mike died (as the result of long-term heart problems) in June 2003, his friends Wayne Bledsoe and Mary Lou Cameron were invited to carry on the program. Wayne, Mike’s cohort at the newspaper, had been an occasional guest on the show, and Mary Lou had gotten her start in radio at Mike’s invitation. Mike and the program were immortalized in the title cut of the album All Over the Road by California’s Mars Arizona. The show has since developed into a musical free-for-all with special weekly guest performers and friends stopping by to join in the fun.
